The Software Licensing office is in a new location:
The Software Licensing office is no longer located in the Computer and Space Sciences building. Our office is now located in 2102 Patuxent Bldg, 4161 Fieldhouse Dr. You can see the office and building location on the How to Find Us page.
Office 2016 is now available:
UMDstudents, faculty and staff can download from TERPware. Packages are available for institutional, work-at-home and personal use.
Windows 10 is now available:
UMD students, faculty, and staff can upgrade to Windows 10 using software available through TERPware. Packages are available for institutional, work-at-home, and personal use.
Visual Studio Licenses:
Visual Studio is no longer covered by the MEEC agreement. Use of these licenses (even older versions) is no longer covered under any agreements and the software should be uninstalled or new licenses purchased.
Office 2016 Availability and Support:
Microsoft has released its new Office 2016 for Windows/Mac for commercial customers. Testing is underway for compatibility with university systems. We do not recommend installing or updating to Office 2016 on primary UMD work computers at this time. The Division of IT Help Desk will begin support of Office 2016 after testing and documentation is complete. The Division of IT will announce availability and instructions about how to obtain Office 2016 soon after.
Personal and Home Use Software Purchases:
Beginning October 1, 2015, the Terrapin Technology Store will discontinue most software sales. This includes personal and home use software available on DVDs and other media. All available personal use and home use software will be available for download at www.terpware.umd.edu.
All institutional software purchases will continue to be managed through Software Licensing (www.slic.umd.edu).
The exception to this is SPSS for students. That software is available via TERPware, but an authorization code must be purchased from Terrapin Technology Store before it can be used.
Students can purchase the SPSS authorization code in person or by calling 301.314.7000 and paying over the phone with a credit card.
If you have any questions, please contact the Terrapin Technology Store by calling 301.314.7000 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
