Windows 10 and Office 2016 Availability and Support:
Microsoft has released its new Windows 10 operating system and Office 2016 for Windows/Mac for commercial customers. However, some of the educational versions of Windows 10 and Office 2016 have just become available for testing under our UMD educational volume licensing agreement. Compatibility with university systems and software is not yet known; therefore, we do not recommend installing or updating to Windows 10 or Office 2016 on primary UMD work computers at this time. The Division of IT Help Desk will begin support of Windows 10 and Office 2016 after there has been time for testing and documentation. The Division of IT will announce availability and instructions about how to obtain these products soon after.
Personal and Home Use Software Purchases:
Beginning October 1, 2015, the Terrapin Technology Store will discontinue most software sales. This includes personal and home use software available on DVDs and other media. All available personal use and home use software will be available for download at www.terpware.umd.edu.
All institutional software purchases will continue to be managed through Software Licensing (www.slic.umd.edu).
The exception to this is SPSS for students. That software is available via TERPware, but an authorization code must be purchased from Terrapin Technology Store before it can be used.
Students can purchase the SPSS authorization code in person or by calling 301.314.7000 and paying over the phone with a credit card.
If you have any questions, please contact the Terrapin Technology Store by calling 301.314.7000 or emailing email@example.com.
Software Licensing orders are currently done through email. Faculty and staff that need to order software can email firstname.lastname@example.org from a umd.edu address with a software request. Additional information can be found on the How to order page.
